Adipose tissue macrophages induce hepatic neutrophil ...- adipose tissue macrophages induce hepatic neutrophil recruitment and macrophage accumulation in mice ,Accumulation of CD11c+ proinflammatory adipose tissue macrophages (AT M) is an important driver of vAT inflammation. We investigated the role of AT Ms in hepatic inflammation during NASH development. Design vAT isolated from lean, obese or AT M -depleted (using clodronate liposomes) obese mice was transplanted to lean ldlr-/-acceptor mice.Adipose tissue macrophages induce hepatic neutrophil ...Adipose tissue macrophages induce hepatic neutrophil recruitment and macrophage accumulation in mice Gut (IF 23.059), Pub Date : 2017-10-26, DOI: 10.1136/gutjnl-2016-313654 Mitchell Bijnen, Tatjana Josefs, Ilona Cuijpers, Constantijn J Maalsen, José van de Gaar, Maria Vroomen, Erwin Wijnands, Sander S Rensen, Jan Willem M Greve, Marten H Hofker, Erik A L …

Mar 03, 2016·Whereas macrophages in lean mice and humans make up around 5% of the cells in adipose tissue, during obesity they constitute up to 50% of all adipose tissue cells . As well as increasing in number, adipose tissue macrophages (ATMs) change their localisation and inflammatory features during obesity.
Adipose tissue macrophages induce hepatic macrophage accumulation in non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). (A, C) Liver triglyceride and cholesterol levels (A) including representative photos (200× magnification) of the H&E stained liver sections (C) of LTA, OTA and DOTA mice fed a high-cholesterol diet (HCD) for a total of 12 weeks.
The proinflammatory CD11c+macrophages that accumulate in obese adipose tissue express high levels of neutrophil chemotaxis genes resulting in elevated secretion of neutrophil chemotaxis proteins, such as CXCL14 and CXCL16, by obese adipose tissue.
Inflammation and macrophage infiltration into adipose tissue also appear to participate in the pathogenesis of obesity-induced insulin resistance, but their contributions to lipodystrophy-induced insulin resistance have not been evaluated. We used aP2-nSREBP-1c transgenic (Tg) mice, an established model of lipodystrophy, to ask this question.
